Daytona 500
Ryan Radio keeps an eye on a mixed bag of events in the world of sports. We make an effort to be aware of most. Of particular interest today is NASCAR’s 2020 Daytona 500. After a sputtering start and postponement Sunday, the race ran Monday. As the final lap rounded turn 4, Ryan Newman in his #6 Fenway Racing Ford Mustang was on point to take the race. Just yards from the line, Corey LaJoie tucked in behind Newman really tight. The resulting 190 mph bump sent Newman’s Mustang spinning on the track and ultimately taking flight over the rest of the field screaming for the finish. The crash is labeled as “horrific.” It’s no secret Newman is hospitalized. The latest reports are that injuries he suffered are not life threatening, but his condition is serious. Our prayers are with Newman, his family, team mates and friends as he begins his recuperation and recovery.
